How to Prepare for Hot Tub Movers: A Simple Checklist

A few small steps before moving day can make the difference between a smooth move and a stressful one. After years of working as hot tub movers across the Valley, I’ve noticed that the best moves are usually the ones where the homeowner did a little prep ahead of time. Here’s a checklist you can follow, in the order I’d do it.

Before Moving Day

1. Confirm the Destination

Know exactly where the spa is going, and make sure the spot is ready. The surface should be level and strong enough, and the electrical should be in place if the spa needs it. If the destination isn’t ready, tell us so we can plan around it.

2. Measure the Path

Measure every gate, side yard and doorway the spa will pass through, and note any tight turns. Send us photos too, since a picture often shows what a measurement misses.

3. Trim and Clear

Cut back low branches and move planters, hoses, furniture and anything else that’s in the way. A clear path is the single biggest help you can give the crew.

4. Gather Your Documents

If your HOA or city requires approval for the new location, have it ready. Having paperwork in hand avoids delays on the day.

5. Check the Weather

Rain and wind can affect safety, especially on slopes or uneven ground. If conditions look bad, call us and we’ll talk through the options.

6. Take Off the Cover and Accessories

Remove steps, loose items, speakers, towels and anything resting on or around the spa. Set the cover aside where it won’t be in the way.

7. Turn Off the Spa at the Breaker

Switch it off at the panel only. Don’t open any electrical compartments on the spa itself, because disconnection should be done by professionals.

8. Ask Us Before Draining

Draining is part of our process, so check with us before you start. We’ll let you know whether to leave the water in until we arrive.

9. Keep Kids and Pets Away

A heavy spa and moving equipment are a risky combination, so give the crew room to work.

10. Be Available

Someone should be home to point out gates, show the destination and answer questions. You don’t need to supervise every step, just be reachable.

After the Move

Once the spa is in place, we level it, reconnect it and run a full test. You’ll need to rebalance the water and give it time to heat. We’ll walk you through what to expect before we leave.

You can read more about how our hot tub movers service works on our website. We help homeowners in Chatsworth, Northridge and Canoga Park, and you can find the complete list on our service areas page.

Moving Day FAQs

Do I need to empty the spa before the movers arrive?

Ask us first. Draining is part of our process, and we’ll tell you if there’s anything you should do ahead of time.

What if my gate is too narrow?

Tell us the measurements and send photos. We’ve worked through plenty of tight access and can usually suggest a solution.

Can I be away during the move?

It’s best to be available at the start and the end. Someone should be reachable for questions throughout.

What if the weather turns bad?

Safety comes first. If conditions are unsafe, we’ll work with you to reschedule.

Ready to Schedule Your Move?

Use this checklist, send us your photos and measurements, and we’ll take it from there. A quick call is the easiest way to get started.
