Want a New Hot Tub Before the Holidays? Here’s Your Installation Timeline

With the holidays only a few weeks away, I’m hearing the same hopeful question from customers: “Can we have a hot tub installed in time for guests?” Sometimes the answer is yes, and it almost always comes down to planning. Hot tub installation isn’t complicated, but it has several steps that depend on each other. Here’s how I’d work through them if I wanted to soak before the holiday rush.

Step 1: Decide on the Spa and the Spot

This is where most delays begin. The sooner you settle on a model and a location, the sooner everything else can be scheduled. Visit the showroom, sit in a few seats, and think about how many people will use it. If you’re not sure where the spa should go, our installation team can help you evaluate your yard before you commit.

Step 2: Confirm the Surface and Access

A filled spa is heavy, so the surface has to be level and strong enough to carry it. Walk the delivery path too, from the street to the final spot, and note any gates, narrow side yards or low branches. If the surface needs work, that’s the step that takes longest, so start there.

Step 3: Book Your Electrician Early

This one slows down more holiday plans than any other. Electricians get busy this time of year, and the electrical work has to be finished before the spa is connected. Call as soon as you’ve chosen a location, and ask about permits and inspections.

Step 4: Check Availability and Schedule Delivery

Ask about the availability of your model and the next open installation dates. We’ll be honest about what’s realistic, and we’d rather give you a clear answer now than a rushed one later.

Step 5: Plan for Installation Day

On the day itself, the spa is delivered, positioned, leveled and connected, then filled and tested. Filling and heating take time, so don’t expect to soak the moment the technicians leave. Heating a full spa can take several hours, sometimes overnight.

Step 6: Plan Your First Soak

Once the water is warm and balanced, you’re ready. Take a few minutes to learn the control panel and how to rinse the filter, and you’ll be set for the season.

What Can Slow Things Down

  • Surface preparation that isn’t finished
  • Electrical work that hasn’t been scheduled
  • Permit or HOA approvals that take longer than expected
  • Access problems that need to be solved before delivery
  • Waiting too long to choose a model

Holiday Installation FAQs

How early should I start planning?

As early as possible. The earlier you decide on the spa, the spot and the electrician, the more options you’ll have.

Will rain affect my installation?

Light weather usually isn’t a problem. If conditions are unsafe for delivery or setup, we’ll work with you to reschedule.

Can I use the hot tub right after installation?

Not immediately. The spa has to fill, heat and have its water balanced first, which usually takes several hours.

What if my surface isn’t ready?

Let us know early. We can tell you what’s needed and help you plan around it.
